Happy Warrior

Vor fünfzig Jahren ist der englische Generalleutnant Sir Adrian Paul Ghislain Carton de Wiart gestorben. Churchills Militärberater Lord Ismay schrieb damals in seinem Nachruf: Carton de Wiart was a happy warrior if ever there was one. He always scorned the safe and easy way. He was literally shot to pieces, but his wounds only served to quicken his fighting spirit. His courage was not only superlative: it was infectious...
