ein letztes Gedicht

Das hatte nicht gewollt, jeden Tag im Poetry Month zu schreiben. Habe ich im letzten Jahr gemacht. War zuviel Arbeit. Das machst Du nie wieder, habe ich mir gesagt. Und nun ist es doch passiert. Der letzte Tag des Monats, ein letztes Gedicht. Ich suchte im Internet nach einem letzten Gedicht und fand in der NZZ eins, das so heißt und fand dieses:

Ich bin / das letzte / Gedicht dieser Nacht. / Wenn du nebenan / im Dunkeln / schläfst / wirst du mich / vergessen / wie alles / andere; / du mit deinem / blöden halb- / offenen Mund / während du im / Tiefschlaf / schnarchst. / Ich aber / werde hier / warten, unsterb- / lich, und wenn / du tot bist / und der schwarze / Himmel ein / letztes Mal / für dich rot / aufblitzt / werden deine / dumpfen Gebeine / nur noch Staub / wert sein. Und / ich lebe weiter.

Das Gedicht von Charles Bukowski ist wahrscheinlich nicht vollständig, es stammt aus dem Band Letzte Meldungen, den Bukowskis deutscher Übersetzer und Freund Carl Weissner herausgegeben hat. Bukowski ist schon mehrfach hier erwähnt worden, und in dem Post Porsche gibt es ein schönes Gedicht von ihm. Auf dieser Seite finden Sie ganz viele Bukowski Gedichte, und eins davon nehme ich mir heute: 

How Is Your Heart?

during my worst times
on the park benches
in the jails
or living with
whores
I always had this certain
contentment–
I wouldn’t call it
happiness–
it was more of an inner
balance
that settled for
whatever was occurring
and it helped in the
factories
and when relationships
went wrong
with the
girls.

it helped
through the
wars and the
hangovers
the backalley fights
the
hospitals.

to awaken in a cheap room
in a strange city and
pull up the shade–
this was the craziest kind of
contentment
and to walk across the floor
to an old dresser with a
cracked mirror–
see myself, ugly,
grinning at it all.

what matters most is
how well you
walk through the
fire.
